Brunch to Business Meetings | A Freelancer's Go-To Look with Ali & Jay
One of the greatest things about being a freelancer is having the option (most of the time) to make any place or situation your office. It's such a fun way to shake things up and take a break from the norm. Now more than ever, brunch (yes, I said it) has become the trendiest biz meeting sitch!
Throw the towel on lunch. Talk about a snooze fest which can often times turn into a stuffy awkward conversation... who looks forward to that? I've been on quite a few business meetings with publicists, brand reps, and potential collaborators at brunch! It's much more of a comfortable vibe, less intimidating and sets the tone for an easy going, conversational meeting.
Now, that's not to say that you have the freedom to show up in athleisure just because the vibe is a bit more on the casual side. But it's super important to make a good impression and represent your best self. My recommendation? A dressy-casual black dress with a chic denim jacket.
One of my favorite places to shop is Ali & Jay, a trendy local LA clothing brand that plain and simply, embraces the spirit and the hustle of us LA go-getters! They have a TON of new items for spring (aka, need and want everything) and I recently found this amazing dress that I think is the dress every freelancer should have to be prepped for these often low-key meetings over brunch!
Ali & Jay's brand new Bellissimo dress is the ultimate dress fit for any biz-oriented occasion! It is lace and midi length, so it's super appropriate. It's sleek, sexy and gives off that business savvy vibe without wearing something "business casual." This is the NEW "business casual!" It's so comfy too which is great if you'll be sitting, eating and sipping for a while. I think pairing with a really chic oversized denim jacket tones down the dress while still making it the stand out piece in the entire look. This one I'm wearing is by All My Relations and says "Rosé All Day" on the back.
Then, pair with what I like to call the "humble heel." In other words, a heel that's not too high and something you can walk in, but definitely not one of those kinds of heels that two inches high. High heels = confidence!!!
This look is fool-proof for any non-traditional meeting. And, if you wanted to make it a bit dressier, you could always pair it with a fitted leather jacket or a blazer! The dress is super versatile and has become my go-to for really all my meetings! If you're going to be an outfit repeater, this is the one that definitely gets endless free passes!
