Ringing in Autumn at Estrella | The Newest Fall Cocktails and Delightful Menu Items
Since I moved to California a little over 3 years ago, Estrella has stayed one of my all time favorite restaurants in LA. It has such character and I’ve always admired that it has such a unique story behind it: Estrella’s concept draws inspiration from the famed Laurel Canyon bungalows of Joni Mitchell and “Mama” Cass Elliot. Estrella, named after the circus girl from the Mitchell song “Ladies of the Canyon,” evokes a time when food, music, artistry, and community all coexisted under one canopy. The decor and ambiance is just as magical with strung lights throughout the outdoor area of the very bohemian, hippie-inspired space.
Estrella recently changed up their menu a bit and I went with my friend Bianca to try some of their newest fall cocktails and menu items. Needless to say, every cocktail and dish we tried was nothing short of impressive!
Here are my top picks for what to order this Fall at Estrella. Better head there quick, you never know when their menu will change for the upcoming season!
DRINKS
Neon Flamingo: Mandarin Vodka, housemade ginger hibiscus Syrup, lime juice shaken and served as a martini with a lime twist.
Pancho Villa: Blood Orange puree, cilantro and serrano, tequila, Cointreau shaken with lime juice and simple syrup served in a martini glass.
The Figueroa: Bulleit Bourbon in a rocks glass, with muddled Bartlett pear, housemade fig syrup garnished with candied fig.
FOOD
First off, let me say that every single one of these dishes were truly delicious. Everything had a very elevated taste (which I always appreciate) and you could tell that the time it took to perfect each dish was taken seriously to create the unique flavors and quality of each dish.
Octopus: Crispy octopus, fingerling potatoes, parsley, lemon, smoked paprika - Delightful! I love me an octopus plate, and this one was definitely up to par with my seafood standards! The octopus was crispy and juicy at the same time with a naturally buttery texture and taste.
Orrecchiette Pasta: Fresh orecchiette pasta, lamb - This was SO yummy. The lamb was so soft and you could just tell it was cooked for a long time. I’m a sucker for any kind of pasta but I particularly love orecchiette. It tasted really authentic which I love - I’m part Italian, ya know!
Cigalas a la Plancha: Norwegian Lobster, Orange-Cava dressing - Stunning presentation! I loved that they incorporated a floral aspect into this dish. The meat was super fresh and we were told that this new menu addition has recently been gaining its popularity. Definitely recommend for any seafood lover!
EXPERIENCE
As always, Estrella never disappoints! It is hands down my go-to restaurant recommendation for brunch, lunch or dinner because every aspect of the experience is perfect - the enchanting ambiance, the food, the quality and the character. I come with a smile and leave with a smile. Thanks for having me, Estrella!
