Cocktail Spotlight: Pretty Woman at 208 Rodeo
Walking through Rodeo Drive on any given day makes one instinctively reminded of the classic 1990 film, “Pretty Woman” with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Gere plays Edward Lewis who is a businessman that needs an escort to bring to social events. Roberts plays Vivian, a beautiful prostitute that becomes his escort, and eventually…his love interest.
It’s only appropriate for one of the best restaurants located on the cobblestones of Rodeo Drive, 208 Rodeo to feature a very fitting cocktail on its menu as an ode to the romantic comedy. And that’s exactly what 208 Rodeo did.
The Pretty Woman ($14) is simple, with just a slight twist on the traditional glass of bubbly. The Pretty Woman is a mixture of St. Germain elderflower liquer and…champagne. Garnished with a fresh strawberry.
Sometimes it’s the simplest cocktails that have the most unique flavor…and Pretty Woman has precisely that. The smidgen of sweetness perfectly blends with the slightly bitter champagne. It’s delicate and sophisticated. A glass of Pretty Woman in hand will make anyone feel as elegant as Vivian once did… at least once she learned the difference between a shrimp fork, a salad fork and a dinner fork.
I’ll leave you with a quote from the movie. (And if you haven’t seen it… Watch it now!!! I promise you will be obsessed).
Vivian: You’re late.
Edward Lewis: You’re stunning.
Vivian: You’re forgiven.
Sitting perched atop the stairs on Rodeo Drive in Bev Hills, with a Pretty Woman in hand, you might just find yourself looking for your own Richard Gere… or if when you’re anxiously waiting for your cocktail, and your gorgeous waiter finally brings it to your table – you may be hoping this same little exchange that was once between Edward and Vivian, becomes real life.
