Cocktail Spotlight: Spicy Pomegranate Margarita at Tortilla Republic
Leave it to Tortilla Republic to give a kick to all of your senses… With locations in Laguna Beach, West Hollywood, and Hawaii, this restaurant is known for its eclectic use of flavors in not only its dishes, but also its drinks. Tortilla Republic serves Mexican classics with an updated and unexpected touch.
I am completely a tequila person, so I could not wait to check out what twists on traditional tequila-based cocktails Tortilla Republic Laguna Beach had to offer.
The Spicy Pomegranate Margarita ($13) made me do a double take – I was sold on this sweet and sour style margarita.
It consisted of Corzo Silver, lime sweet, Stirrings Triple Sec, pomegranate puree, and fresh jalapeño.
The presentation of the cocktail was a gorgeous reddish-pink hue, and the combination of the jalapeños mixed in it really made for a striking appearance.
This cocktail is S T R O N G. In an amazing way of course. If you’re a pomegranate fan, you will certainly love this. The drink is juicy and very tart, but the combination between the bitterness of the tequila with the fresh jalapeño really adds quite a kick to the senses. Fun fact: spicy burns calories. Plus, you’re drinking pomegranate puree. So… you’re technically being healthy by drinking this. All the more reason to have one… or two!
The Spicy Pomegranate Margarita is beautifully put together from the ingredients to the presentation.
