The Gilded Bellini at The Rooftop Grill at Montage Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills… that’s where I want to be.
In the wise words of Weezer, that’s exactly where I went. For brunch, I knew I wanted to hit another rooftop spot… somewhere that I could get a fantastic view of the Hollywood Hills. That would be no other than The Rooftop Grill at the Montage Beverly Hills.
The Rooftop Grill is known for its healthy California cuisine, its mosaic-tiled swimming pool, and stunning views overlooking BH and West Hollywood. I couldn’t wait to bring my friend Kellie along (again) with me to enjoy a brunch under the sun in the good old 90210.
I’ll start with walking in. The Montage Beverly Hills structure itself is architecturally sophisticated with an elegant, modern touch. It’s truly hard to take your eyes off its beauty… except for when you’re walking through the valet into the main lobby.
Your eyes will wander off to the Rolls Royces, Lamborghinis, Mercedes Benz G-Wagons, Bentleys and Maybachs that are parked out front. We tried not to flinch at all the beautiful cars with all the beautiful people stepping out of them. We didn’t want to look like total BH newbs.
After mentally taking in how expensive the parking lot alone was at that moment, we walked through the lobby into the gold-plated elevator. Up to the top we rose and the doors opened to a gorgeous rooftop heaven. At first glance, you could just tell that The Rooftop Grill is the holy haven for not only visitors, but also for BH locals. Not just for not only brunch, but for a quick swim, maybe a business meeting, or just your average day of rooftop lounging. The life I tell you.
Walking in, there were several tables in a half inside/half outside section, most likely for the diners who wished to stay out of the direct sunlight (hey, props to them. It’s better for the skin). Kellie and I preferred a table outside. We walked past the regal pool with couples and well-behaved children took a quick dip. Along side the pool was a rather large ice bucket with a couple bottles of Veuve Cliquot just chilling. Casual.
Our table was in the perfect spot for top-notch photos (no pun intended). Before I even get into the food – I’ll just flat out say that it was amazing. Delectable. Would not expect anything less from The Montage BH. But keep reading.
Kellie and I both ordered iced teas, which were probably two of the best iced teas we’ve ever had. They had almost a floral undertone to them. I ordered the Egg White Frittata, which consisted of tomato, spinach, avocado, tender greens, and usually fresh mozzarella and goat cheese. I’m dairy-free, so they were super accommodating and understanding that I needed the frittata to be cheese-less. The waitress asked if my dairy-free request was due to an allergy or just a choice. I told her I had an allergy, which is true. But – I think the server was used to this request. Being vegan and dairy-free is just so LA…
My meal was super filling, but wasn’t greasy or heavy at all. The flavors blended well together, and the avocado on top was to die for. (Avocado is one of my food weaknesses).
Kellie ordered the Rhubarb Buttermilk Pancakes that came with lemon cream and strawberries. Okay. No words. The pancakes were so perfectly fluffy. There was something angelic about them in a way. The lemon cream added the tartness to the sweet taste of the pancakes. Word to the wise: if you’re coming to The Rooftop Grill, GET THIS. It is so worth every bite… and every dollar. All 25 of those dollars.
Side note: Besides the phenomenal food, there was one tiny little mishap. The server had asked us if we wanted flat, bottled, or sparkling water. We thought flat water was tap. So maybe this was a mistake on our part. But it turned out flat water was a large bottle of Evian water that ended up being $12. I honestly have no idea if The Rooftop Grill serves tap water, but if we requested it I’m not sure what kind of confused looks we would have gotten…
Upon leaving the hotel, we got some exclusive news from someone in passing at The Montage. He approached us initially because he thought we were…Beliebers. Huh? We were a bit confused. Justin Bieber lives at The Montage Beverly Hills and there’s always little girls running around the hotel trying to find him and ask him for pictures. Poor Justin. Can't catch a break. So FYI for all you Beliebers: do what you will with this info...
I would go back to the The Rooftop Grill in a heartbeat. It’s super classy and relaxed – you almost feel like you don’t have a care in the world. I mean, how could you at the top of the Montage Beverly Hills? And just a side note: if you’re looking for your future husband, I’d recommend frequenting here quite often…
