The Gilded Bellini at Cafe Mimosa

Known for its eclectic selection of mimosas and charming outdoor patio in the little town of San Clemente, Café Mimosa is the perfect place to relax and brunch where the locals do.
On the main strip of little shops in San Clemente, you can’t miss Café Mimosa. Its big, bright yellow awning and enchanting exterior is very inviting and almost looks like a house! I haven't been here since before I moved to California, so I couldn't wait to be back (and actually drink considering I don't think I could even do so last time)!
My friend Hannah and I walked in and requested to sit outside on the patio. It was more of a quiet afternoon in the town, but tables were filled here, as they usually are. The ambiance is very home-y and comfortable. For some reason on the day we went, the clientele, besides Hannah and me of course, were couples. Lol.
As soon as we sat down, we got right to the best part – chose our mimosas! Our choices ranged from Raspberry, Black Currant, Elderflower, Elderberry, Orange, Pomegranate, Lingonberry, Apple and Sour Cherry. I mean… couldn’t we try all of them? I didn’t even know what half of them would taste like! I went with Elderflower, which had a very similar taste to St. Germaine. Hannah got Raspberry. We both really enjoyed them – they were sweet of course. The server gave us our own personal bottles of champagne so we could refill our glasses as we neared the bottom… which happened pretty quickly.
I ended up getting the Breakfast Sandwich: toasted wheat, scrambled eggs, ham and potatoes. It sounds simple, but it was SO good. It was super filling, fresh and not greasy at all. Just writing about it is making me want to go back right now and devour it.
Hannah got the Eggs Benedict: Florentine, toasted brioche, smoked paprika, hollandaise and potatoes. It was a slightly smoky twist on the traditional EB, and definitely worth trying next time you’re at Café Mimosa.
Café Mimosa is truly one of my favorite local OC spots. As much as getting all dolled up and splurging somewhere super trendy is something I love doing, it’s a good change to explore places that are right outside your doorstep.
Café Mimosa stands out for more than just their outside appearance, but for their entire cozy restaurant concept that just happens to be the place to be in San Clemente. PS: Ryan Sheckler is from here (aka I scan streets every time I'm in San Clemente) so if you're hanging around town, you just may see him... P.P.S. Yes, I still think he's cool and still reference Life of Ryan. I live in 2007.
I guess I’ll be going back here at least 8 more times….so I can try each and every mimosa at least once. Who’s coming with me?
