The Gilded Bellini at Ivory on Sunset
If you’re looking for a brunch spot in the heart of “where it all happens,” Ivory on Sunset is your new place. Located at the gorgeous Mondrian Hotel on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood, it’s known for its outdoor lounge and amazing panoramic city views. Ivory on Sunset’s culinary concept is inspired by Hollywood’s Golden Age and it’s eternal, timeless glamour.
They had me at city views and Hollywood’s Golden Age.
From the moment you walk into Ivory on Sunset, you’re stunned by the dreamy décor; strung lights, big blue patio umbrellas, comfy blue-striped sofas, and rustic wooden tables.
Looking at the back of the restaurant, it’s the main attraction: large windowpanes within walls tangled in ivy. You can see the entire city from West Hollywood to Downtown! It’s truly a breathtaking view. The entire essence of this restaurant celebrates Los Angeles in so many ways, and it’s evident upon your arrival.
Lucky for us, we got ourselves a window seat.
I started out with a Bellini, while my friends Morgan and Hannah went for some yummy Bloody Marys.
It was super hot outside that morning – it was only 10 am and we were frying up! We finished both the water and our cocktails pretty quickly to say the least.
One of my favorite things about Ivory on Sunset is that the silverware is GOLD!!! Yes, gilded. I am a gold FREAK so this made my day. You never really realize how much nicer looking it is than ordinary silverware until you actually have it right in front of you. Major bonus points for this pretty perk!
For my meal, I went with the Crab Cake Benedict. Okay… this was to die for. What I loved about it is that it wasn’t greasy with too much mayo like most crab cakes are like. This was literally all crab! I am all about clean eating as much as possible, and the crab was evidently of great quality. Since it was so sunny that day, the brightness kind of got in the way of a really clear photo. But, it’s still plain to see that this is no ordinary Eggs Benedict! Underneath the crab was avocado, followed by a toasted English muffin. On top of the crab was an egg, poached to perfection with hollandaise! A side of crispy homefries completed the dish. My mouth is watering just writing about it! This is a stellar dish.
Morgan went with the Breakfast Burrito, which consisted of eggs, bacon, crispy potatoes, cotija and jack cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, and salsa rojo. Another great choice! The flavors are so rich in this dish, and I love how it includes guacamole, not just avocado into the mix. And no, the guac is not extra.
Hannah ordered the Kale Salad, which included quinoa, tomato, pine nuts, and balsamic vinaigrette (she ordered without the goat cheese and onions which are normally in the salad) and topped with fresh grilled chicken. This salad was such a generous size, so filling, and honestly delicious. I had probably more bites out of Hannah’s dish than I probably should have, but it was so worth it! I absolutely love a great salad, and Ivory on Sunset totally kills the kale salad game!
Ivory on Sunset is the quintessential LA outdoor brunch spot. With a relaxed, yet refined vibe, it is the place to brunch on Sunset Blvd. Sitting near the Mondrian’s infamous poolside near the window with a panoramic view and a bellini in hand, you’ve totally earned your right to hashtag, #brunchgoals.
