Brunch Trip: The Gilded Bellini's Brunch at Brigitte
Brigitte is a French restaurant and a hidden gem at the bottom of Manhattan on Canal Street with an incredibly chic and edgy feel. It's gained a reputation for its inventive dishes and trendy space. It only opened a few months ago, but Brigitte has been one of the most happening spots in the city since its doors welcomed brunch-hungry individuals!
Upon walking in, it's plain to see the beauty in the space itself. With floor to ceiling windows, a marble bar and tables, and accents of jewel-toned blues and golds, the restaurant is flooded with natural light. It's evident to see the design of the restaurant was carefully thought out and very precise. I personally loooove a spot that is bright and beautiful - perfect for photos too, of course!
We were welcomed to our table which was alongside an awesome work of art that had a very chic, beachy, 70s California vibe. As a newfound California girl, this made me feel right at home! My friend Alex and I couldn't wait to dive in and enjoy brunch.
We started off with delicious and super pretty cocktails.
I had The Booster: Gin, Lillet Blanc, Cointreau, Absinthe, & Lemon Juice. So fresh and very strong!!! I love how different this drink was as it included Absinthe. It's just a touch, but when ordering this drink, you know you're here to stay and enjoy!
Alex had The Healthy (Not): Rum, Taylor velvet Falermum, Yogurt, Strawberry Lime Juice & Agave. This was a cocktail that was the most beautiful shade of pink! It was like a little spiked smoothie! Loved this concept and is totally fit for brunch.
We started off with a super yummy bread starter dish which consisted of Charcuterie Fig Jam, Country Bread and Cornichons!
The jams were extremely tasty and the pastries were light and melted in your mouth.
We had the most delightful dishes!
I went with La Cassolette, Chorizo served with Yucca Fries and Eggs. Mmmmm was this yummy. I loved that it was served hot in a cast iron pan. The meat was cooked to perfection and those Yucca Fries??? To die for!!! My mouth is watering just writing about them. They had the perfect crunch.
Alex went with a new menu item - the Beet-Cured Salmon with Poached Eggs, Holllandaise Sauce & Potato Galette. What a cool creation! Who ever thought beets and salmon would make such a delicious combination? This was a dish that really stood out to me, and it was so Instagrammable too! This was a creation that totally got a thumbs up in my book. I've seen a lot at brunch, but definitely not the beet and salmon combo!
Another thing we loved about Brigitte? The music!!! The entire time we were there, there was 70s music playing throughout the restaurant. What a fun treat! It just matched so well with the restaurant and in a way, took us back in time. There was a summery, happy and bright feeling throughout the restaurant and we couldn't help but sing along as the songs changed. One after the other was a song we loved!
We were having a blast and of course had to throw in some of our favorite brunch behavior in the mix of it all - selfies!
So much fun. As brunch continued, I was amazed at how quickly Brigitte filled up! Seriously, we were at THE place to be on Canal Street!
I absolutely adore Brigitte and highly recommend for anyone who's brunching with your girlfriends, or even if you're on a brunch date! The space is romantic and lighthearted, and simply charming. The atmosphere combined with its unique dishes and fun cocktails make for the most perfect meal. I love that the entire brunch experience is totally photo-op worthy, with everything from the space to the food being carefully designed and incredibly beautiful. I have no doubt in my mind that Brigitte will continue killing the NYC brunch scene as it flourishes for many years to come. I can't wait til I am back!
